The Women's Health Patient Navigator is essential to the development of good communication between the patient, physicians, Nurse Navigator and cancer center support staff. As a member of Oncology staff, the primary purpose of the Women's Health Navigator is to reduce barriers to care, provide education, and streamline and coordinate additional imaging and procedures. Work in collaboration with the Nurse Navigators, Breast and GYN practices for proper handoff of malignant diagnoses. Working with and alongside Radiologists, Mammographers, Ultrasound and MRI Technologists; as a liaison between providers and patients to assure excellent care from the time of imaging to diagnosis. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to:

  • Interact with patients and providers to offer a personalized, individualized approach to women's health care including reinforcing information about diagnosis, treatment planning, and available resources for patients with benign and malignant breast and/or gynecologic disease.
  • Provide information to patients and providers, facilitate scheduling appointments for imaging and follow-ups, streamline paperwork, explain and clarify testing and results and serve as a link in connecting patients with appropriate resources.
  • Available to offer personalized assistance to patients, as well as track interventions and outcomes
  • Communicate and collaborate with the patient's referring provider to ensure improved timeliness of care and patient satisfaction.
  • Create and maintain statistical analysis programs across all breast imaging modalities.
  • Works in collaboration with the imaging department to assist in preparing case presentations for all cancer conferences related to women's health.
  • Assesses and works in collaboration with the Hereditary Risk Assessment Program to refer women for counseling and testing as appropriate.
  • Will work in collaboration with the Cancer Institute Nurse Navigators (i.e. Breast and GYN) to refer all patients for an appropriate handoff to manage all patients diagnosed with malignancy.


Graduate of Radiographer Program; Bachelor's Degree Preferred

3 years of healthcare experience preferably in women's health including breast imaging, breast disease, and/or gynecologic disease.

Licensure, Certification, Registration:
Current Connecticut License, Radiographer required

Certified Mammography Technologist / Breast Ultrasound Technologist / MRI Breast Technologist preferred
