What do you like about working at International Association of Chiefs of Police?

"While working at the IACP, I've enjoyed working within an international environment - it gives me an opportunity to apply my multicultural background and language skills. I also like that I am given freedom when it comes to designing graphics for my Division - I design brochures, covers, whatever graphics we need at the time. I also enjoy getting to help put together conferences and meetings domestically and internationally."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Have a history in law enforcement and be retired. Younger employees do not get much upward mobility."

What don't you like about working at International Association of Chiefs of Police?

"Unfortunately, a good deal of the frustration comes from being underemployed - the position I'm in doesn't fully utilize my knowledge, experience and skills. Although claiming to be international the organization focuses entirely too much on the domestic side. Even though I work exclusively with internationals, I'm never taken on the trips I help coordinate, plan and organize."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Given a recent shift in leadership, a lot has changed and I'm not sure how well the changes are being taken. I would foster up and coming employees in order to ensure the future of the organization and prioritize for finding efficient and innovative strategies for progress rather than relying on what's comfortable."
