What do you like about working at H&R Block?

"The position was challenging and rewarding. I really enjoyed investigative work. I never got bored and each audit was completely different from the previous. The benefits were fantastic and the company really cared about its employees, and we were compensated with quarterly profit sharing, which was very generous."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"This company is closed."

What don't you like about working at H&R Block?

"There wasn't anything I didn't like about this company. It was a great place to work. I would still be working there but I was laid off after 6 years. The company outsourced positions to India and eventually closed."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I think that management should have had better training for underwriters and account managers, especially since most branches funded a large volume of loans each month, and there were a lot of errors which could have been avoided with proper training."

"The starting pay wasn't great but as my experience grows and years of service, so does pay increase... looking at the performance."

"I love working with numbers and think tax law is very interesting. I've learned a lot. H&R Block's courses are excellent and I've enjoyed taking their classes both in person and online. They have an excellent selection of online classes. I also like the fact that you can choose your hours and also that it is only part of the year (unless you want full time work there)."

"Be prepared to take lots of tax courses."

What don't you like about working at H&R Block?

"For a job which requires so much expertise, the pay is way too low. I also like doing tax preparation, but do not appreciate being a salesperson. However, the company tries to make everyone be a salesperson as well as prepare taxes."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"For those who enjoy numbers and doing the taxes, the management ought to provide options for these people to concentrate on that, keep these people busy doing taxes and have someone who likes salesmanship do sales work."
