What do you like about working at Home Depot?

"In general, the associates are good people."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be careful when at work. Favoritism does exist. Home Depot states that they don't lay off people during hard times. This is true. They fire them instead. I lost my job after almost seven years with the company, only because they eliminated my position. I was never given the chance to accept another position or step down. I did not get any severance package. They also took away my stock options, even after telling me I would get them after my termination."

What don't you like about working at Home Depot?

"I dislike the ever-changing schedule which prohibits quality of life outside the store. My store manager wrote all schedules for assistant store managers, and you could see favoritism in days off and shifts needing to be covered. Also, company policy was only followed when it was convenient for the store management. Some people were fired almost immediately, and others seemed to get away with policy violations if they otherwise were good workers or could not be replaced right away."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stick to policies or get rid of them. Don't choose which ones to follow and which ones to ignore."

"Nice place to work until they don't need you anymore."

"It's a decent job."

"I dislike having no life and unpredictable work hours."
