"More impressive hospital I have worked in during my 10 years in healthcare."
"This is a great company is well structured everyone here are seems to be nice and well orchestrated I am looking for a different position that I can actually make my money off of the work ethic I do on the spot instead of waiting annually other than that I have nothing bad to say about Hoag"
"In my personal experience working for Hoag has been a tremendous learning experience. Hoag pride is real and employees show it in the way they care for their patients and the community. From a technology stand, a place to be exposed to the latest and greatest technologies related to supporting the medical staff. A great place to work."
"Hoag is a great place work. With my time there I was able to be given more responsibility than I can imagine, which has work that was very rewarding and fulfilling. If it wasn't for COVID-19, and the hospitals daily census affecting staffing, I would have wanted to stay there for years."
"Great team members. IT leadership needs to improve."
"I don’t recommend since I don’t know what people are looking"
"I worked for Hoag for just shy of 15 years. They helped me grow within the organization of Revenue Cycle while i went to school for my degree. They offer amazing benefits that outweigh most other health care organizations in the area. Overall Hoag is a great place to work."
"Great hospital to work for."
"I've worked for Hoag Hospital for 7 yrs and I found Hoag to be a challenging environment. While the technology that they use happens to be on the cutting edge, the management that drives the technology is not very technical. I've had over 14 management changes (direct supervisor/manager) and have had to work through multiple scenarios where I did not have the tools in order to do my job which resulted in procuring the tools to do the job. In the end the job has prepared me for the future."
"I've worked at Hoag Hospital for 3 years now and I absolutely love it here. Great work environment, very competitive salary and my role is rewarding."
"Good place but they are in serious cost cutting mode right now. Not a good place for a technologist to maintain their skill set."
"Great place to work for the most part. Little room for advancement unless you want to play the get in good with the right people environment."
"I have worked here at hoag for 3 years and it has always been a pleasant place to work."
"Worst experience of my 20+ year career."
What do you like about working at Hoag?
"Nothing at all. I was miserable each day for the month-and-a-half that I worked there."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Don't do it. Go for another job - you'll thank me later."
What don't you like about working at Hoag?
"Everything. Upper management are all sticks-in-the-mud with zero personality. The emphasis at this healthcare provider is profit. They only care about the patient because it is a means for them to make more money. Male employees are forced to wear a shirt and tie (which is completely unsanitary in a healthcare environment) each day. You are not allowed to have any personal items or photos in your office. My personal favorite was having to clock in and clock out each day even though I was salaried. You also were only allowed three absences per quarter. If you failed to clock in or out, or if you got sick and missed more than 3 days in an three month period, you would be docked pay and would face disciplinary charges. Isn't that illegal At orientation, we were told to stay healthy"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Relax and let your employees enjoy life and work a bit. Stop stepping on their necks just to make a buck."
