"I have worked for Hensel Phelps for over 4 years, during my time I got to work around some of the best, hard working and talented individuals. However, HP has a major problem with employee recognition, and promoting. Base is extremely low compared to other companies and they will tell you "but the benefits," which is not true. All the benefits are vested over 5 years period, and you have to be at a P.E. level to even begin to feel any of it. HP is a great place to learn skills and improve yourself, but not good for long term goals unless you have no aspiration to climb the ladder, as you will not be promoted for being a hard worker or good at your job, but promoted based off politics of the company and the relation you have with your upper management. If you are a hard working, goal oriented person, this is not the place for you, as you will not be recognized and will only be seen as a "hard Worker" if you are working 10-12 hour days, regardless of how good, efficient, or smart you are."
"During my time with Hensel Phelps, if it was one thing I've learned, is that the team is a family and we always pull through for each other, regardless of the extent of work that one must go through. I was recently inspired to crawl out of my shell and see myself at the leadership position, and that my friends and peers would finally congratulate my hard work for getting to the next stage of my career. My efforts to prove myself at my current position and to become successful at my next position is shown through persistence. My hard work and my efforts to streamline the document control and cost/budget management through ProjectSight, constant scope coordinations, and understanding our trade partners were where my priorities stood. Hensel Phelps has always understood the difficulties that our trade partners face and is always willing to lend a hand to ensure that they are meeting our expectations and to always be the voice of reason and resolve. "We don't know everything, but we can always start somewhere". That is my principle and is my inspiration to be better, to get better, and to do better, for the many years that were to come in my career. No one else can do it better or have a team that can commit 110% to their clients like Hensel Phelps does. Hensel Phelps is a company that I place at such a high tier and will always have my highest level of respect."
"I have been with the company for almost three years. I have enjoyed it thus far. I have been challenged in the field and project engineering aspects of construction. I’m looking for other positions to expand my knowledge of the industry and seek out more opportunities for growth and career development."
"Overall a great firm; however, it is clear to me that this company is not for everyone."
"Great craft workers, senior management was involved with employee wellbeing"
"I started this January and strongly believed that I had found the right fit for me. The company preached quality of life and had a decent offer. In the end it was not a good fit for me since it did not give me the opportunity to truly make a difference and learn."
"I've worked with Hensel Phelps for a year and five months, I found it strongly driven by costumer service, which I had consider a new experience but easy to adapt to it's policy and safety culture, I totally recommend anyone to apply with this company if you are a recent graduate, intern, or fresh in the construction field, they will give you the experience in the field from labors to supervisors, and from FE to a superintendent position, not so much for an experience individual who is been involved in different projects in construction."
"Hensel Phelps is great company to work for gives an employee a lot of different career experiences. Only downfall would be job security depending on what project you work on. Co-worker were great and very helpful all the time. The task are difficult but always are good learning lessons on how to approach different scenarios."
"I worked for Hensel Phelps since 2016. Many of my supervisors were helpful and excellent at expressing what they expected of me. It is a company where everyone works as a team."
"Great company overall company to work for including the people."
"Hensel Phelps expects extremely long hours from all employees at all levels. 10 hour days are a minimum and 12 hour days are common. Advancement can take a long time and the first advancement doesn't come with a salary increase. It's not a promotion according to them."
