What do you like about working at HealthFirst?

"The people I worked with in the claims department. Having a job with several different projects to manage."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be prepared to cover your own ass as management isn't going to do anything for you. Also I had to select $30K as it was the lowest but it took me over ten years to get there. The extras we got were flexible work schedule, 4 weeks vacation, and really cheap medical insurance."

What don't you like about working at HealthFirst?

"No management, I worked with some great people. I also worked with a woman who would throw a temper tantrum if she didn't want to do something. So, she got to do pretty much whatever becuase noone wanted to deal with her scenes. There were others as well. I worked in the same position for 11 years and was the only who knew how to do my main job, I asked repeatedly for someone to be cross-trained, never happened. I finally took matters into my own hands and the woman I worked next to and I taught each other our jobs so we would have some backup."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would have the people in management have some actual management training. She was difficult, she was ineffective and didn't require anything from anyone. No follow up on any rules that were set up.ie. no cell phones at your desk--nothing was ever done about the people who were on their phones all the time and those of us to didn't do that didn't need to be told."
