"It's ok. Seems like they don't care of us very well and don't offer many paths to progress."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"There aren't many places to go simply because the high technical fields are based out of state. So if you want to move up, you either have to move... or jump in to management. But I'd rather spend a night with Courtney Love than move in to a management role."

"Not much, I like my direct manager a lot. The issue is with his manager who is a director, not a manager."

What do you like about working at Hospital Corporation of America?

"Helping the OR staff and doctors by preparing their surgical instruments."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't get your hopes up. My workplace should be in-line with local and nationally recognized certification standards (and common sense)...but most of the time it isn't. My manager sets a very poor example of work quality, communication, and discipline. I have found my hospital department work environment to be much less efficient and lower product quality than the numerous restauaunts I worked in previously."

What don't you like about working at Hospital Corporation of America?

"My department is a chaotic mess. There's hardly any structure (especially for new hires), and the manager makes as many mistakes as the worst person. There's no accountability, no reward system, just day after day of shame&blame for the problems. Turnover is high and morale is low, more than half of us are actively looking for better jobs. My co-workers feel the hands-on job is great, but the chaotic management makes every day unneccessarily theatrical. We often get talked down to, despite the 99% accuracy and efforts most of us contribute."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Create, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures. Coach, then discipline staff who make too many mistakes or who don't care. Make sure to gice credit and praise when due - people aren't tireless robots."

What don't you like about working at Hospital Corporation of America?

"The management is concerned about the end product not about the employees that are accomplishing the work."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would like to have a better communication and support from my employeer. I would like if I have an idea for change or a sollution that I know they would have my best interest at heart and not have a treating attitude that I am complaining."

Director of Recruiting

"A very challenging and rewarding experience."

What do you like about working at Hospital Corporation of America?

"The people. I enjoyed the challenges of directing the recruiting efforts for each on our nine hospitals. It was rewarding to find the right candidates for the right positions knowing they were going to be helping and taking care of our patients within our communities."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It's a great company with great people, My tip would be to make sure everyone is onboard with the position."

What don't you like about working at Hospital Corporation of America?

"Not all of the Executive Management team was onboard with building a centuralized recruiting center which I was hired to build. Pro-active recruiting was not a priority."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Pro-active recruiting is important in order to find the best of the best candidates for each of the hospitals. It's my suggestion that they do move forward with building a central recruiting center at some point so each hospital is not competing against each other for candidates, cut the cost of advertising individually/separately, and to build a strong central database of candidates for all 9 hospitals."
