"Company Treats Employees Poorly"

What do you like about working at Hampton Forge?

"There are some really good people that work here that are very talented. I wish they were more appreciated but unfortunately that is not the case."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If the company includes bonuses as part of your salary arrangement, be prepared for the company to not honor those bonuses or salary reviews. The owner is notorious for slighting employees on bonus plans and also will ask many employees to work weekends even after spending 50 to 60 hours working in the office."

What don't you like about working at Hampton Forge?

"Whatever salary you are asking for that may seem agreeable to the company at first will be met with a salary well-below your expectations. The company does a switch and bait - if you say $80,000, be prepared to get an offer of 20 to 25% below your asking price. This is a very hostile work environment. Owner belittles and berates his employees without reason in meetings. Company often hires unqualified people into various positions. Employee turn rates are very high. The owner will constantly change your core responsiblities without due diligence and understanding the value of the work you do. This company offers poor medical insurance. (Be prepared to spend $600 or more per month for medical insurance if you have a family). The owner will also knowlingly sell bad/damaged product to customers - rusting, poor cratfmanship and defects to name a few. The end result is that the consumer is getting a poorly made product. Do not take a job with Hampton Forge unless you are desperate."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The owner has demoralized each and every employee at the company. It is hard to imagine that some employees continue to work at this establishment but due to out of maintaining health benefits and keeping a job to feed their families."

"I worked for this company for about a year. It was the longest year of my life. It is a terrible place to work at, I wish I had researched it before I accepted the position. Do yourself a favor and look on the Glassdoor web site job reviews for this company. Those former employees hit right on the head. The owner is just a horrible human being, CFO not much better. There is just no way to explain the experience other than... terrible. Do yourself a favor... stay away."

"unpleasant experience"

What do you like about working at Hampton Forge?

"nice employees. Easier commute then my prior work place. Nice building"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are in need of a pay check then you may want to consider this companym as a short term fix. But this is not a good career move either upward or even lateral."

What don't you like about working at Hampton Forge?

"the work environment was very unpleasant. The owner is verbally abusive to the employees. The CFO does nothing to stop it. The work hours were long and the pay was average, at best. Medical benifits are avalible but very expensive. The company has a 401K, but does not contribute to it. The turn over rate is also high.Employees are moved to different departments without being asked if they want to work in a department in which they have no experience and they receive no formal training on thier new responsibilities. The stress was evident on all employees"

"Good people, but bad management. not a pleasant experience for me"

What do you like about working at Hampton Forge?

"There are some very hard working people working there. The commute (against the North Jersey grain) was easier for me"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"you will most likely be offered much less then what you are asking for and less then the going rate. Be prepared to be moved into departments for which your are not trained. You are not afforded a option of refusing. Your job responsibilities will constantly change. Be prepared for a lot of yelling and screaming as this is the normal form of communication from the top management"

What don't you like about working at Hampton Forge?

"the business atmosphere was very bad. The owner is verbally abusive to all employees. There is a lack of direction and job responsibilities. Morale was very low and the turn over is very high"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"come up with a solid business plan and stick to it. Stop moving employees into departments in which they have no experience, training or a desire to work in"

"Unpleasant experience."

What do you like about working at Hampton Forge?

"The rank and file employees were very nice and the location was relatively close to my home. there were some very talented people working there and the commute was easier and faster then my former commute."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are looking for a pay check then you will get just that. If you are looking for a lateral or upward career move this is not the place"

What don't you like about working at Hampton Forge?

"I was there for a few months I thought the interview process was rushed and they wanted me to start immediatly, which I thought was strange. The pay offered was well below what I asked for, but I took the job because after reviwing their web site it looked like a exciting place to work and the easy commute allowed me to take care of my morning responsibilities and still get to work on time.On the 1st day I realized I made a mistake. The owner is verbally abusive to the employees.Screaming and yelling all day...ever day. The CFO explained that the owner has a lot of passion for his company...what I witnessed was not passion, it was daily verbal abuse. The employees are moved to different departments (without their consent) and given no training or guidance. When they fail they are berated for it. After being moved to a department in which I had no experience I asked the CFO for a job discription and he told me to write one up. This constant shifting of personnel made it difficult to figure out who was doing what and who was in charge of each department, thus there was constant confusion and mistakes being made. When someone left the company whatever they were working on was just left there...dropped. I did not sign up for the health insurance, but I was told the cost to the employees were high. There was a 401K plan but the company did not contribute into it. I was also told the turn over rate was very high. I did see some people let go or they resigned while I was there. The hours varied, most everyone worked in excess of 10 hours per day and while I was there weekend work was demanded (since most are salary, at no financial gain to the employee). The employees seemed to be in fear of losing their jobs if they did not comply with these requests. My few months there was enough for me"

What suggestions do you have for management?

".Hopefully you have changed your management style since I work there, but going by the last post it would seem that you have not.you should"

Hampton Forge Employee

"Hampton Forge is managed like a boot camp. Your wants/ desires/ aspirations are of no consequence to upper management. You are an expendable resource who will be upgraded at the earliest convenience. The owner screams at you without getting his facts together, The other executive managers are passive aggressive and will deny conversations took place if it can prevent them from getting in trouble. Your job is to obey the managers- whatever they demand of you. If you ask questions you will get yourself and others in trouble. Very hostile environment. Don't waste your time."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"if you are in need for a pay check then you may want to consider this company as a short term fill in. But do not leave a current position to work here, As stated the turn over rate is extremely high"

What don't you like about working at Hampton Forge?

"the owner belittles and verbally abuses the employees. the turn over is very high. You are constantly training new people only to see them fired or quit. The hours are very long and since everyone is listed as salary, there is no additional pay for after hours or weekend work. The meetings are never ending and counter productive. The decisions by the owner are ever changing making project management a nightmare"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"cease running the company on fear. It is not a motivational tool. Being under constant threat of being fired is counter productive and just plain wrong"
