Manufacturing Manager
in Rincon, GA

"The best and worst professional experience of my life."

What do you like about working at Gulfstream?

"Produces the finest large cabin corporate aircraft in the world."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Before accepting a position at Gulfstream, understand that you have the ability to negotiate your starting salary. Do not allow yourself to accept a position at a pay rate that is significantly less than you are worth thinking that in a relatively short period of time it will be made equitable. I made that mistake."

What don't you like about working at Gulfstream?

"Has arguably the worst managed Human Resource Department in the business. They need to join the 21st Century as Business Partners rather than holding onto the antiquated notion of being corporate police. They do more damage to the organization than good with their ambiguous policies and poorly conferred services."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Listen to/Support your front line managers and stand up for them when necessary. Place qualified individuals in Senior Leadership positions (educated, experienced in the particular discipline, etc) rather than elevating tenured people who are inept. If someone cannot effectively do their job, address it immediately instead of avoiding the issue, or moving them where they can continue to limit the success of the organization."

What do you like about working at Gulfstream?

"It is the most prestigious corporate aerospace company in the world. I took great pride in the contributions I was able to make in manufacturing such a high end product."

What don't you like about working at Gulfstream?

"I feel that the right people were not always seated in the right seats on the bus."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Empower the team members on the shop floor! Their is some excellent front line leadership at Gulfstream that have a passion for making and sustaining positive change initiatives."
