What do you like about working at Great Lakes Science Center?

"I enjoyed the fact that my work was helping visitors to learn about science and technology, and the great lakes ecosystem. Working in a museum environment gave me the opportunity to meet and work with professionals from a variety of fields. I worked on exhibits in collaboration with organizations such as NASA and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, as well as Chinese artisans and craftsmen."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you desire work experience in a midsized non-profit organization, this is a good place to start. That said, you have to be willing to work very long hours and except little in compensation. If you have a background in science, that is a plus. Be sure to check out the website (do your home work) before the interview."

What don't you like about working at Great Lakes Science Center?

"At the time I was employed. I had to work with an outdated computer which broke down a lot. I, along with many of my former colleagues, felt the museum, although financially sound, was poorly managed with low employee morale."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"New management came in at the same time I left to attend college, so I am not sure if any issues had been resolved."
