"The benefits are not bad once you reach lead status. The stores are never fully staffed and they force the salary managers to cover any open positions which creates 55 to 60 hour work weeks. They are not very good to their team members and push good workers out the door constantly. They promote individuals that should not be in a managers' position. Its all about filling in gaps."
"I have worked here for years. They pay very well however the hours are long and they will contact you at all hours of the day. Morale is low and management is abusive at times. This is the best paying grocer however with many opportunities to advance if interested in retail."
"I have worked for Giant Eagle as a cashier for about 2 months now. They have treated me like I have been there for years and give you as many hours as you want. Giant Eagle is extremely flexible with their hours and have great benefits. Great place to work for part time and full time."
"As far as retail companies go, Giant Eagle is alright. I'm glad they were able to give me flexible shifts around my college classes. I'm excited to get a software development job though, so that I can use the knowledge I learned in college."
"It's not a bad job. Good hours and good pay. But it can be kinda stressful."
"I worked here for 5 years. In my time there I managed 7 different locations."
"The work I do is fulfilling and challenging. The problem is that the company always short changes when it comes to promotions. They have a habit of pulling the old bait and switch on all of their promises. It's hard to move up internally when they know they can short change you."
"This company was a little confused as to what they wanted out of my position. Some of the developers were slow to adopt any type of change in process that a QA Analyst would bring. Project Managers and BAs were all for it, but developers looked at it as negative and feared any snooping on them would cause them to lose their jobs."
"I have been with GE for over ten years and its been the worst experience of my life. Managers get bonuses for cutting employees hours, they make it near impossible to get time off ( I was called in to work on the day of my grandmother's funeral after they told me I could have the day off BC of the funeral), and they never fire anyone, they simply remove you from the schedule so no one can collect unemployment. Sure there is a union with dues that go up in price every year."
"I have been with Giant Eagle for almost 7 years and it used to be a great company to work for. In these later years though it has become much more tedious to work for them since the change in policies from upper management. If you just want a part time job it can be great, but for a career you should try and look elsewhere."
