Overview University of Georgetown is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit university in the United States. The university was founded in 1789 by John Carroll, the first bishop in the United States. Located in Washington, DC, Georgetown has and enrollment of over 12,000 students. Undergraduate degree programs include nursing, business, foreign studies, and continuing studies. Graduate degrees are offered in medicine, law, business, and arts and sciences.

University of Georgetown consists of five campus locations. Besides the main campus, students can study at the Medical Center, the Law Center, Georgetown-Northern Virginia, and the School of Foreign Service in Qatar. The university offers 48 undergraduate majors as well as an extensive study-abroad program. Nearly 60% of the student body spends time at an overseas location.

University of Georgetown employs over 2,000 faculty members and 1,500 administrative staff members. Employees are offered a myriad of benefits, including child care, counseling, wellness programs, chaplain services, and tuition assistance. The university offers four health insurance programs for employees, including two PPO plans and HMO plans. Retirement plans include a Defined Contribution Retirement Plan, a 403(b) plan in which the employee and the university both contribute to the retirement fund. There is also a Voluntary Contribution Plan available.
