AVID Tutor

"I have worked as an AVID tutor since 2017. By helping students in this college-ready program, allows me to have a greater understanding of how hard work and dedication pay off. No matter what comes in the way for these students there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. I have tutored over thundered of students in the past three years and I am grateful for having the opportunity to serve as a proud tutor for the Garland Independent School District."

What do you like about working at Garland Independent School District?

"I am a certified educator and substituting for GISD for the last three years. I do not like subbing anymore."

What don't you like about working at Garland Independent School District?

"Some schools don't have a good system of discipline among students and students are not achievement oriented."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"A new face to difference classes daily is not practically beneficial for both students and the substitute. If at least certified subs would be appointed as a long time substitute for the school would have been useful for students and staff would consider the sub as part of the school system. I wish at least a certified sub who worked in the GISD for over one of two years would be considered for health insurance benefits and a little pay increase."
