"My big question is the justification of laying off direct employees while keeping contract employees."

"Employment job security is dictated by individual supervisor's buddy system. No matter how good you are in engineering with knowledge and talents, you job security is dictated by personal influence.They layoff so many direct employee while keeping contract employee without explanation."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Top management should look into the matter of fairness of judgement and hear from the employee leaving company to find any misconduct by supervisor's personal influence against company interest. I was rated very very goo in previous project but was laid off in next project while there are incapable contract employees a lot."

"The 14-18 hour days. Working 6-7 days a week. Being the only woman in the work place. They make it clear that you a woman and they will let you know your place."

"Management was great. They understood you were the professional and they respected your skills. I loved the hands-off management style. I work best with this style. I don't need supervision."

"The company has basically outsourced all its work. Senior management has sold their soul to the devil."

"I had to be an employee for 5 years to get their 401 contributions."

"Respect your subordinates. Give them space. Recognize senior experienced individuals and let them control their work. Schedule weekly/biweekly meetings."

"You get every other Friday off due to flex time. Fairly good money."

What don't you like about working at Fluor?

"They have no more regard for their people than they do the office furniture and copy machines. When there is a down turn in business they declare the WARN act and axe nearly everyone. All contractors in the area have layoffs but Fluor runs first and the farthest."

"Stop saying it's the nature of the business and realize that it's the nature of the people that run the business."
