Florida Tech Overview

Florida Tech is located in Melbourne, Florida. The school was originally known as Brevard Engineering College, and was founded in 1958. Dr. Jerome P. Keuper founded the school so NASA technicians, scientists and engineers could have a local educational institution. Brevard Engineering College officially became Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) in 1966.

Florida Tech has graduated more than 37,000 students since its inception. The university's goal is to create professionals and leaders in psychology, aviation, engineering, the sciences and business. In 1972, Florida Tech launched a Maryland program at the request of the U.S. Navy. The school now has 10 off-campus Extended Studies sites in five states.
