Flight Attendant at Compass Airlines
in Los Angeles, CA

"Being able to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the passengers. It starts with flight attendant, presenting a warm inviting environment, putting the passengers at ease giving them a sense security, where they can relax and enjoy their journey. The job is customer service, servicing your people. I hate working for a company where management allows the worst of the worst passengers to undermine my job as a trained flight attendant and puts my job at risk, because a passenger is looking for a free trip... it happens all the time with the regionals, because the regional airlines are working for the major airlines, i.e., Delta, American, and the regionals are only looking at numbers... so having a bad passenger on board who is violating a FAA FAR, which the flight attendant is obligated to report, do something about... if that passenger complains, that flight attendant will be held accountable... fired, written up, suspended,. This industry is very unpredictable, anything can and will happen on any day, but the flight attendants are responsible for all... all issues on the plane. To much of a responsibility without much support from management. It's not worth the hassles to leave your family for days, lose an extreme amount of sleep which you will never get back, work an excessive amount of hours up to 16.5 hrs a day... to be disciplined for any reason. This is not a glamorous job!!!"
