What do you like about working at City Of Fernley?

"Learning new department procedures (I worked in 4 departments in 7 years), meeting new people(Fernley was booming and then the economy went south), working on the website."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Ruuuuun! Do not go- it will change you to where your own family will not recognize you! There is a whole wide world out there- Fernley is the dark ages."

What don't you like about working at City Of Fernley?

"I would not call it positive-The city was full of the most closed minded, vicious, mean spirited, down right obnoxious group of residents I have ever witnessed. I think it was something in the water- which I never drank. You did not have to be home grown to become like the residents. The place seemed to bring out the worst in a person. Most of the employees that worked for the city of Fernley were the same way. Small town, good 'ol boy - you do not belong here type mentality-you always had to be on your guard- some of them were really underhanded. And then the politics- small town politics at its best- that is Fernley Nevada."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Turn back the hands of time to when I first started working there. The first couple of years were great, could not wait to get to work. It was interesting and fun. Then the election happened and everything changed over night. The staff was divided. The city finances were in trouble. I would put the people that were in charge the first couple of years up to 2005 back in place, and then I would either give a choice or release the trouble makers of their duties."
