"It's a job, but there is nothing rewarding about it."

What do you like about working at Farmers?

"Flexible hours. There are not any other positives, unless you count that you're not working at McDonald's."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't! Run the other direction! Since Farmers slavishly follows any and all new business trends, they're very big on behavioral based interviews. Sooo, make sure you've brushed up on your BS-ing abilities before you walk in the door."

What don't you like about working at Farmers?

"Everything else. Extremely stressful, boring, repetitive job with claim loads that are not manageable and expectations that are extremely unrealistic. Constantly seeking to implement new ideas and improvements, but never seem to be capable of learning from those ideas that fail - they just keep implementing new things over and over. No communication between departments and even teams within the same department. Pay is significantly less than other insurance companies in the area."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"If you truly want to put the customer first then start with your employees."

What do you like about working at Farmers?

"Employees are good for the most part. A lot of things change and there is some progress there. Flex hours are important."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Try to work on special projects as that is the only way you will maintain sanity. Claims are for zombies."

What don't you like about working at Farmers?

"Jobs are boring and repetitive. Middle management isn't where I would want to go and is the only direction that they push you in. Nobody talks to each other and each department works within their own silo. It is inefficient and a lot of times overly challenging. The way they measure goals isn't even close to being accurate or fair."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Put more resources into technology. Technology is way behind. Claims could be much more automated and less costly. I would also get rid of a lot of middle management."

"High school all over again."

Field Accountant

"Unity needed."

What do you like about working at Farmers?

"The opportunities available for involvement to give something back to the community. The coworkers were always a blast to be around as well as some supervisors and managers. Of course the profit sharing was awesome as well when no other company was taking care of their employees Farmers at least was."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Make a list of questions that are appropriate yet focus on what you value to the interviewer. Also request if you can shadow the position you are interviewing for to get a feel of the place and the position. Your reasoning for this is to make sure you are both fair to the company and yourself to make sure it's a good fit."

What don't you like about working at Farmers?

"Depending on the department is in such as mine, seemed like there was no unity with the rest of the company as a whole, so there was confusion on activates we were to participate in. This is not the company as a whole though - you may get into a dept that is wonderful which is a true statement, but others for reasons unknown there lack a unity, which as a whole encourages employees that are in those departments to not be on board with the vision of the company."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"In departments that stifle unity, in my experience it is managers or directors that micro-manage every little thing. In addition, unity with the entire company is a must as involvement with corporate donations and activities is what keeps employee morale stable or high during challenging times in our country."
