"My opinion of working at FairPoint"

What do you like about working at FairPoint Communications?

"I love the people at FairPoint! My boss is very cool--always willing to give advice, help push your career along, etc."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"FairPoint as a whole is a decent place to work. There are good people throughout the company. Keep in mind that you will be expected to be on call 24x7 and that parking is not free or cheap in Manchester when negotiating salary."

What don't you like about working at FairPoint Communications?

"There is either a lack of planning on the part of upper management -or- a lack of communicating that plan effectively. Because of this, projects always creep massively in scope, change focus mid-stream or get scrapped completely once they're done. I realize this happens everywhere, but I believe it could be minimized at FairPoint by better planning and communication. It also results in groups of people having long periods of no productivity while waiting for direction."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Come up with a clear, concise plan and communicate it rather than just seeming like you are muddling along. There are many talented professionals working for you that want to make the company a success, they just need marching orders towards a consistent goal."

What do you like about working at FairPoint Communications?

"The challenge of building a new company from scratch. The acquisition of the northeast required a migration to more robust systems. Building the new solution was challenging but fun."

What don't you like about working at FairPoint Communications?

"When things didn't go right there was an inclination to point fingers not find solutions to the problems. In most cases the ones who had their noses to the grindstone were the ones that got blamed."
