Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"They MUST know someone working for ESPN, or should have attended broadcasting school, received a degree in Sports Management, Communications, or Marketing, otherwise their chances are slim to none of even getting an interview with the company. They should stay relaxed, be honest, and most importantly, ask a lot of questions, but not too chatty."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Understanding their employees, being able to communicate effectively, and assisting them into developing either within their organization, or throughout the company."

Production Assistant

What do you like about working at ESPN?

"I liked the environment of working around sports and the fast paced lifestyle of a live sports broadcast. It was always a run and gun type of operation where things needed to get done fast and effective, you didn't have a second chance to get it right. Since a lot of these productions were shot live, it was extremely important that your job role was understood and that you worked extremely hard to accomplish your specific task for the live broadcast. I enjoy sports in general, so it was a position that I was passionate about and every live broadcast brought something new to the job. It was fast paced and you always had to stay on your toes. That is something I enjoy. It is a fast paced environment where you need to act and react quickly and efficiently."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be yourself. Love sports. Work hard."

What don't you like about working at ESPN?

"When we had to do live broadcasts in terrible weather, when it was raining sideways and it was cold and miserable, and we were left to do the live broadcast from the sidelines of the football field. Those were not fun production days."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Be clear and concise with producers and production assistants on their given roles for each broadcast. More communication is always better than less. I always thought management with ESPN ran effectively and efficiently!"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Think long and hard about working for a company that suspends an on air talent for saying what almost every executive in that executive laden top heavy company has not said to themselves, or possibly to each other. They were really upset about a comment made about a franchise type anchor."

What don't you like about working at ESPN?

"The people stab you in the back at every turn."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Decide what you want your managers to be and then teach them how to be what you want. TV people don't make great managers and ESPN is so into being PC that people are doing work they should not be."
