"The diversity of the job enable me to excel and to learn many new skills. It enabled me to see other very large companies infrastructures and how they managed their systems and the procedures they had in place."

"This is a great company to work for if you are the sales type then you are in for a great ride."

What don't you like about working at EMC?

"Sometimes it seems that nothing could be accomplished without having a meeting to discuss some aspects of the sales division."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management seemed to always come in at the last moment and throw the team a curve ball and move up the sales cycle."

What do you like about working at EMC?

"The software I support comes with its own front end systems but offers various ways to expand the system. I enjoy helping customers who have found creative ways to utilize the software with their existing systems using web service calls and other methods to get the results and functionality they need. I especially enjoy when they are finding some odd, quirky behavior that I can help smooth out by reviewing their code that communicates with our software or write my own code to test a suspected issue."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you get hired, always be confident in what you say or say you will need to find out before giving an answer. Both the customer and management would appreciate it if you know what you are talking about or are willing to find the answers needed. Don't guess."

What don't you like about working at EMC?

"Support can also be very repetitive. Especially with new releases where you might see a period of time where the same issues get reported over and over by different customers."

"Understand the current processes and personal attributes of a team before making drastic changes that disrupt the current makeup of the team."

"Negotiate high when applying for a position. beware that most entry level positions are going overseas."

"Limited advancement due to salary. Constant change due to acquisitions of new companies and trying to place their managers."

"Be proactive and prompt with defining year and quarterly goals and budgets"

"There are too many reorganizations happening in the past year"

"Find effective ways to collect ideas from junior software engineers"

"EMC had changed, but most of it is not a good change especially for engineers"

"unclear direction, too much work moving overseas with no saving of cost, engineers are just expens"

"Check who is going to be your manager and how is management s type, there are a lot of talented software engineers, the problem is the management."

"Benefits are very good, the training and option to get a degree while working is excellent, great engineers, location"

"a change need to be done in the management level, lately too many unqualified manger with no software development experience managing software development groups."

"Demonstrate tenacity, assertiveness, professionalism, and teachable. Successes with enterprise solutions; both hardware and software."

What don't you like about working at EMC?

"Discouraged with product roadmap within my business unit; Information Intelligence Group (IIG). Software licensing model too complex, should be simplified."

"I am satisfied with my immediate management. Senior Executive Management appears disconnected with Field Sales and Customer needs."

"The schedule was very flexible and you could tele-commute as often as you liked."

"it is still a pretty good place to work. the Corp mentality is changing. very slowly."

"the were making a lot of money but still cut benefits and salaries."

"take better care of the workers, that took care of all of your customers."

"Corporate is based in MA, many of the jobs outside of MA are sales."

"Recruitment within EMC could be faster, it took a few days for me to get in contact with the recruiter for my internship"

"Can-do spirit and cutting edge technology - on the bleeding edge and always poised to support our customer's needs."

"EMC hires for attitude, and presumes aptitude based upon one's resume. Expressing a willingness and enthusiasm for personal growth through knowledge and advancing the company is looked upon very highly!"

What don't you like about working at EMC?

"Somewhat limited direct customer contact (within my position). My knowledge of the industry/technology is rather limited to EMC's portfolio only."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The workplace (interiors0 are rather 'institutiona'...some interior design iprovements would improve morale and make the work environment more appealing - especially in such a high-pressure environment."

"Employees used to be happy and enjoyable to work around. Great benefits and pay use to have loads of freedom to do your job."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Watch out for top management he is a control freak and is only concerned about himself. He wants the numbers so his paycheck is larger. He does not have time to treat the ditch diggers with respect. He feels who he associates with gives him a larger paycheck. Watch out for the top, you manager may be great, but the top dog will come down on you and the manager will not have a say."

What don't you like about working at EMC?

"Management changed, attitudes changed for the worst, there was never any fun at the office. The boss micro managed everyone and everything. People came to work for a paycheck where before they were invested in the company and felt like they could and did make a difference."

"Get to know the employees and understand their input is important. I would be honest with employees and not have a hidden agenda."
