Electric Insurance Co. Employee

"Some of the GE perks, but not worth the headaches, even if you can't find anywhere else to work."

What do you like about working at Electric Insurance Co.?

"GE Benifits. Some excellent people from Executive positions to desktop support. Nice building and clean bathrooms with self-flushing, water-saving toilets, and automatic faucets which allows you to wash your hands without touching anything to turn off the water after."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't. What you see is not what you'll get. If you do interview, it may help you to know that the people that interview you, no matter how confident they seem, most likely don't know as much as you do about any technology, so don't let them intimidate you and don't second guess yourself."

What don't you like about working at Electric Insurance Co.?

"GE culture is not present. A few people in key areas that are among the least compentent I have worked with in my 20+ years. Several long-time employees (15-20 years) that have never seen technology outside of EIC strongly resist change based on outside experience. Human resources an surprisingly incompetent and unprofessional. Very top-heavy."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop the bleeding/losing of valuable people. Poeple don't have to be your friend to have valuable input. If you're one of the problems trying not to rock the boat before you retire, it's wrong to stay there and impede progress. Offer early retirement to long-time IT personnel - it will cut your IT budget in half and increase productivity."
