Systems Administrator

"A very good start."

What do you like about working at Electronic Data Systems?

"It was my first real job. Everything was new, was great and I had the chance to learn much for my career. Because of the IT people shortage at that time I became a project manager after 6 months. OK, it was not a multI billion project, but I was responsible for the results."

What don't you like about working at Electronic Data Systems?

"They didn't encourage personal movement very much."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Not really. I don't know what the strategy is behind all joint ventures and mergers in Germany. Maybe this would be the problem. I can't see any strategy."

Technical Support Agent

"EDS gave me great experience, I am very thankful for that."

What do you like about working at Electronic Data Systems?

"The people at EDS were fantastic. I made many friends. The office environment was open and relaxed. I was very comfortable working there and I was comfortable with my leaders."

What don't you like about working at Electronic Data Systems?

"I worked very hard at EDS and although my job title improved, my salary never did. I also felt that there was favoritism in the office. I was way more qualified for a team lead position I applied for than the person who got the promotion, but that person was close friends with the technology manager. That is my personal opinion though, since I knew the person, they were my friend, I knew his qualifications, and I know I had much more qualifications and had been doing the job on the weekends for over a month."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would suggest that management look at the person on a professional level, not on a personal level when it comes to internal promotions. Also, recondition for the hard work is really great. That way, the employee knows that their hard work is paying off, even if it is just a compliment, little goes a long way sometimes. Also, if you are going to promote someone, I would suggest that their pay get promoted along with their title. More responsibilities with the same money does not help the employee be the best they can be."

What don't you like about working at Electronic Data Systems?

"HP had a lot of dysfunction with multiple sales people with similar objectives, considerable overlap, and too much redundancy. It was obvious to me from the start that my position would soon be eliminated. The company hierarchy appeared to be fractured."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Company hierarchy was fractured and there appeared to be considerable overlap (too much, in my opinion) of various sales resources' duties. Elimination of my department and position was a good start, but certainly not the end of it."
