"Honest facts of things I've seen over the years. I could not go back if I ever find another job that pays me the same or more."

What do you like about working at DIAB?

"New things to learn, as there are not many companies involved in this type of work."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"You should not try your hardest to impress the company unless you need them money. They will try to give them a very low amount of money even if you have a degree, because you will just be running a machine. All you can do is work hard and pass the test to get the max of 4 percent raise every year. You start with $9/hr as a temp then get $10//hr 3-4 months later as permanent."

What don't you like about working at DIAB?

"They prefer employees who don't speak good English so they cant pass the written tests so they can be paid very little. 90 percent of employees are Hispanic but they don't translate the tests. I'm OK and pass the tests 100% cuz I'm white, but its what I notice. After 2 years there you learn everything and there is nowhere to advance to. The supervisor does not know much more than you do, neither does management. If you do advance and make more money and you are put back to your old job because of a downsize, they will not reduce your pay, but will find a way to fire you so that you cannot collect unemployment. Ive seen lead men get fired for not taking a shower daily but he could not collect unemployment because I had to write on paper that I thought he could not perform the job after he was trained, I was persuaded by my supervisor to do so. My best friend got fired after being there for 4 years because he thought he was doing the right thing because the supervisor saw him doing it many times and never said anything to him about it, so he thought it was OK to do so. Later on a new guy was being trained by my friend and complained on him saying that he should not be doing that, and the supervisor told the manager and he was fired. The supervisor never said once to him that he could get fired for doing that, he just watched him every-time and let it happen. He was a hard worker and was making much more than any of us that have been there 5-12 years longer."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get to know your employees better before firing them. Give them a fair and honest opportunity to be trained before saying they cant do the job and then fire them."
