"It was a good job but there was limited opportunity for growth moving up, I did move sideways several times."

"Watch and listen to the people you are managing. Gain respect for those I manage so when change comes along it's easier tI enforce."

"Lead by example and listen to the people who perform, look at the process not the people when thing do not go as planned."

"Elk was wonderful place prior to acquisition. Elk R&D was retained but development spirit has changed."

What do you like about working at GAF?

"Apart from the items mentioned below, it is a wonderful place. I am a good judge of the difference between productive change and change that requires preemptive action. Prior to this job, I had left before two firms with one after an acquisition."

What don't you like about working at GAF?

"The bureaucracy brought in from the acquiring firm has been immense and has sapped the spontaneity out of the team."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would recommend consolidation of R&D to one location despite losses. Having popularity swing from one place to the other based on management announcements as to which place will remain the corporate R&D center prompts me to make my own decision."
