4.5I worked for The Denver Post for 14 years. I loved my job, and thank goodness, because I worked for 10 different people (each with their own management style). Advertising was definitely the fun department as they "ruled" over all decisions. It was a stimulating environment that required finding problems quickly but was very slow to react. There wasn't an overall goal and/or vision for many of the years. When internal focus groups were formed it made for positive morale but wasn't there the last 2-3 years.
3.6There are a lot of media companies to work for. However, provide the opportunity to present new ideas and have them implemented. If you want structure and vision this is the place. If you don't like structure and accountability then don't work here. Expect change and constant reorganization.
2.6Company is now owned by a Hedge fund who refuses to re-channel funds back into the company. All design work is outsourced. Layoffs started in 2001 and continue today. Sinking Ship.
