"I worked for Dell for 7 years after my company was acquired. Dell is a very large organization with great benefits. There is constant change within Dell and continual layoffs and re-orgs. If you have a good network of people in your corner you will be safe. But you have to earn your relationships here."

Flatten hierarchy to no more than 5 levels; install one over one approval processes. Gut hiring processes through HR and require hiring managers to interview/hire candidates."

"Another PC company bites the dust :("

"Do not waste your time learning a dying business in a company on life support."

What don't you like about working at Dell?

"Executive team. Executive team with guaranteed $20M+ a year deal that do not have to produce at least 10x of their pay. Executive team that do not know PC industry, products, or their customers. Always a follower never a leader."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Michael, wake up! You last round of executive hires is driving your company to the ground. By out sourcing everything, you have eliminated your revenue potential to save cost. No revenue growth no future. What made Dell #1 was a great team of employees (who developed, manufactured and delivered great products) and a small and agile executive team who did not need power points to generate power points."
