"Over 40 hours was the norm. They do not focus on work life balance."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Focus on work life balance. There is life outside of work."
"Not enough people to do the jobs assigned."

"There was a lot of flexibility in work location. Some managers actively tried to make it a fun work environment."

"Be very straight forward. Ask about comp time and if there are any management changes expected."
What don't you like about working at Dell?
"Long hours. Unclear expectations, unrealistic demands. Culture of suspicion. Managers play while engineers get hammered with negative interactions with other departments."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"There is a very depressed mood around Dell. This cannot be entirely countered while there are layoffs going on, but some of it could be countered by not working your people so hard and providing clear expectations as to what rewards or compensation is available for going above the the requirements."

"I enjoyed working from home, great people, networking groups, travel and opportunities to live abroad."

"Make sure you are familiar with Dell's current strategy and where they want to be in 5 years."

"Long hours, unorganized management, lack of following through with promises."

"I would work more on engaging my work force and not just paying lip service to flexible work and work life balance and actually implement it in all areas of the business."

"I liked working with clients. Helping them solve issues with their computer systems."

"Make sure the people doing the interviewing are up to speed about the position and they actually want to be there to do the interview. I have seen HR people who did not have a clue. It was a poorly managed interview."

"I did not like having to recommend firing a person, although I would do so when necessary."

"Make sure you are putting the right people in management. I find some people did not have a clue about managing people."

"Now the products and services Dell offers, I worked on the storage side so it was inportant to know storage on a basic level."

"Just the fact that my team was disbanded when we were making a true impact on the business."

"Better planning, acquire necessary hardware for upcoming projects, create training goals for personnel."

"Leading the marketing and sales effort for DELL's foray into the IP video field with special focus on all storage mediums; SAN, NAS, ISCSI, Fibre Channel and direct attached."

"Be a true hardware expert and do not expect to turn the course towards software. Know services and service delivery well as DELL moves from a PC supplier to a services supplier."

"Not progressive enough and not understanding of the marketing revenue and time needed to seed the product."

"Listen carefully to the end user and channel. Elicit communication and feedback from the IP Video leaders in multiple countries."

"Global exposure, and size of programs. Being able to work on mergers and acquisitions."
