"In my 12 years at Dell, I worked with great people and learned a ton about marketing and business in general. The compensation was good and most of the time my work/life balance was manageable."
"DON'T GO! There are too many people doing the same job so lots of redundancy. Company is dysfunctional and you are constantly in fear of losing your job - layoffs on a regular basis. Very white organization."
"Good company until 2009. Hope it rebounds."
"Company was good to me, I was good to it. It's pretty old school in many areas."
"I have worked for Dell for 3 years and is a good place to work."
"I worked at Dell for 16 years and was able to advance my career, knowledge and ability to work in a corporate environment in ways that I never imagined. Dell is focused on the work life balance of its employees and I consider myself lucky to have worked for such an innovative and successful company"
"Dell is a very political place, and if you don't have the right connections, or the right friends, you can forget about moving beyond a certain point."
"I have worked for Dell for the past two years. While it has been a fantastic entry into the technology sector, I would like to move toward a start up that is working to make a difference. The work environment is pretty dull, and I do not really love going into work every day. Management in my division has been fantastic on the upside."
"Dell is a great stepping stone. Get in, get out, just don't fall into the quicksand. If you fit into the good ole management structure at Dell, then never mind this review."
"Stuff does not happen soon enough since bureaucracy is a hurdle."
"I have worked for Dell for over 7 years and it is a great place to work. Due to the size of the organization accomplishing tasks can be a challenge and time consuming. I would recommend Dell to anyone who enjoys the type environment where the pace is slow but resources are abundant."
"I worked at Dell for over 15 years. PROS: I had excellent managers and teams throughout. Going private and Dell back in control was the right choice.CONS: Felt like it didn't matter what our feedback was for improvements to the workplace, the company was driven by the shareholders regardless of how much stress employees went through. There was also too much red tape to cut through to get anything done. I recognize this is a part of being a large corporation, but IMO should not define it."
"I've been with Dell long enough to see the same thing, your manager will be trained just enough not blatantly break HR laws. My manager creates an environment that makes you feel as if you will be fired or let go tomorrow. Funny enough, it seems clear senior management, but acceptable as long as the numbers are met. Even though Dell is currently a technological sinking ship, it might be useful as a stepping stone in someone's career."
"Dell was great several years ago, as time progressed, the ability to save a few dollars with off shoring employees without the true business sight to see what these changes had on our customer base has taken its toll. Consistent threat of layoffs has challenged many of the employees to a point of take me now attitude. Very little upward mobility within the sales force and the resistance from management to advance said employees has also negatively affected its sales team."
"I've worked for Dell for 15 years, I enjoyed the early successes of the company, however the culture and goals have changed drastically from 5 years go. Once upon a time the people were the most important thing about the company, now it's just the budget."
