What do you like about working at DaVita?

"I like the patients and feeling that I make a difference in their lives through the time and effort I spend to help them live a quality life."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Unless you are prepared to devote 60-75 hours/week to a job and only get paid for 40, don't interview. They keep talking about a work/life balance but no one gets to live it unless you are high up in management. I would only work here again if I was a fresh college graduate looking for work experience or I was at a place in life where I needed a job to consume me. Unless you suck up, you will not advance."

What don't you like about working at DaVita?

"I dislike DaVita itself! We are so metrics-driven it is ridiculous! The need to please our RODs drives people to practice outside the core values we talk so much about. Fear of not being the best and getting walked out the door is constant! I hate this company and wish I had not worked myself into a corner by specializing in dialysis; I now am finding it difficult to find other work. I don't trust any of my superiors and most of my peers, as they talk about people and would not hesitate to stab you in the back if it caused them to look better. There is no support from my supervisors, and the concept of team is a joke. We talk so much about our MV and core values, but we no longer live them. We host a farce called town hall, where you are encouraged to ask questions from your leaders. God forbid, you ask a question that is difficult, may be construed as negative, or is a complaint! You will hear about, it and it will be held against you!"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Live the core values. My managers act like day-to-day keeping of this company running is beneath them. There is definitely a hierarchy of importance and elitism. Favoritism is rampant, and rarely are effort and skills the reason for promotion."

"I love the bonuses based on performance that the company offers."

What don't you like about working at DaVita?

"I really don't like the medical benefits offered by the company, and the out-of-pocket expenses."

"It is an excellent company with great benefits."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"This company does all thorough background checks and will call all former employees. It's a Fortune 500 company, and it is a business-casual company; hence, no suits and no ties. Khakis and polo T shirts are the dress code."

What don't you like about working at DaVita?

"There are too many formalities and too many systems to be worked on; hence, it keeps you busy just getting on one system to another."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Keep us away from too many conference calls and meetings; hence, we can spend more quality time with patients."
