Senior Project Manager

"Worst place ever. Network is really small. Politics everywhere. People been there for so long they feel entitle not to work. people been in the same title years. Equipment is outdated and painfully slow. Boss is very nit-picky; doesn't get treated like a professional. Employees is just a number to management. No communication at all."

Software Engineering Intern

"I've worked as Summer Intern, Software Engineer at Cymer. Great people to work with in a stress free environment. They are truly on the pinnacle of technology. The company just went through a merger and will grow substantially in the next few years. Some of issues I faced were poor management, some do not know what they are doing, they have no previous experience managing people, some are ignorant and don't want to change things."

What don't you like about working at Cymer?

"Forced vacations, lay offs to pay for management bonuses, layoffs to manage stock value, managers having weekly meetings asking for input when decisions have already been made, co-workers turning work environment into Survivor Island, managers stifling any sincere signs of frustration, saving the department millions and getting a token piece of paper for it, sacrifice your outside life working overtime to get the product out the door on time so management gets its bonus for meeting that metric, no overtime pay for those most likely to be working overtime most often, management maintaining appearances by maximizing number of needless meetings attended, managers giving reviews for people they hardly ever interact with besides during required weekly meetings, management creating numerous hoops to jump through for advancement allowing no feedback. The layoff atmosphere itself creates a cycle of forcibly repressed frustration, forcing management to hide it or create a scapegoat, creating lost productivity, lost tribal knowledge, and a hoarding of information to prevent a personal layoff."
