CSU San Bernardino is one of the 23 colleges in the California State University system. Located in San Bernardino, the school is situated about 60 miles east of Los Angeles. The school was founded by the California legislature in 1960 and began accepting students in 1965. The school’s original name was California State College at San Bernardino. The school became a university in 1984.

CSU San Bernardino has greatly expanded from its three original buildings from 1965. Today the school sprawls over its over 400 acre location. One unique campus feature is an art museum that houses a large collection of Egyptian artifacts and hosts a number of traveling art exhibits.
The school began competing in intercollegiate athletics in 1984 and is a NCAA Division II school and a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The college’s athletic teams are known as the Coyotes.
