"There really is no oversight of the employees. I could pretty much not show up and no one would notice."

"I would be out among the people, not sitting in an ivory tower."

"Prepare to be patient, the rest is great. There are plenty of good time to be had."

"In order to remain technologically in sync with the world, one must remain open minded."

"Great work life balance, decent pay, decent benefits, very interesting work."

"Go to the OPM website, look up your series, and practice based on the job descriptions. No one varies from the script."

"There are way too many levels of approval, even the smallest decisions are only made very high up the chain, virtually no autonomous decision making."

"I would hire a few more people, a better performance management system would be good."

"Ask questions about anything unsure of. Document all answers in writing and clarify. Constantly seek new educational opportunities."

"Texas has no beaches, lakes dried up in the drought last summer, and I was too far away from family."

"Establish consistent training programs for new contract administrators and specialists to ensure accuracy of work."
