"Been at Columbia for 6 years."
"Columbia University is very well known, not much more I can add. The Dept. of Systems Biology is great and we are doing great things"
"I have been working at the Columbia University (CU) for 12 years. CU is one of the eight of the American Universities belonging to Ivy League."
"I suspect the company has a very positive corporate culture that did not seem to filter into the admissions department. This department, filled with caring, educated professionals, was sadly, in my opinion, working with a micro-management mentality that exhibited a controlling and disrespectful attitude toward employees."
"In my opinion, over controlling micro-management toward education, professionals but may have been department rather than company. Saying yes to company CEO recommendation in light of insight only with departmental experience. Left before I could have a fulfilling professional experience."
"A good place to learn new technology, not a place to stay long term, horrible upper management."
"CUIT is the biggest IT provider to the CU. They have excellent people working in all departments, Upper Management don't have a clue on what they doing, they hire outside help to let them know that they are doing a horrible job, fire people to show change. The CUIT org chart is a dying tree, instead of a pyramid of well staffed workers. You need to know the upper management in order to get a promotion and recognition... Negative place to stay long term, excellent place to learn new tech."
"I was part time, and I really enjoyed what I was doing."
"I've been working for Columbia University for 2 years. It is very bureaucratic, which makes it difficult to do my job sometimes. The workplace is awful - old, dirty, terrible building employees that I have to work with."
"Great environment, great coworkers and job!"
"Columbia is a very big place, run in a very fragmented, feudalistic way. Very hit-or-miss, depending on your individual departmental situation. Many managers are dead weight, holding on for retirement, blocking any possible advancement. In a corporate environment they'd be fired. Work here for a while if you're feeling lazy, then get back to the real world when you feel like having a career again."
"Columbia is a great place to work but unfortunately, in my situation there will be little to no chance to move up. I'm not saying for everyone there. It's just based on my situation."
"Good place and good people here."
