What do you like about working at Cleveland State University?

"I like the down time, the freedom to pursue my own interests in any down time, and my friendly coworkers."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"The system takes forever to do anything so don't be afraid to wait. Bureaucratic red tape restricts most of the aspects of everything involved with working here."

What don't you like about working at Cleveland State University?

"The expectations are too high for the amount of work they expect me to do in my current position. In spite of the fact that I am most often doing the work of 5 people, I have been recognized as nothing more than a temp employee and have been reminded that I can be replaced at any time as an unsuccessful attempt to encourage and motivate me to work harder out of fear for losing my job. In general, the employees are not being trained to resolve issues for themselves, and in addition, there is a great miscommunication and expectation between different departments and the responsibilities of those departments. Within each department, there is a great lack of cross training, so much so, that they're constantly have to pull previous employees out of retirement because nobody else knows how to do the job."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"A lot. The overall structure of the system needs to be reorganized, starting with more intensive training of staff on all current and new policies and procedures. There needs to be a reworking of job duties and responsibilities so that each department has a clearly defined purpose and intent."
