"Focus on your ability to improve students in reading and math. That's all anyone cares about anymore."

"The work is extremely demanding and we are constantly being asked to do more with less. Classroom teachers spend upward of 60 hours a week related to work. The superintendent while saying he cares about us, doesn't actually seem to. Principals and teachers who fail are kept on and shuffled around instead of being given support or fired."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I would cut money at the top and provide new and struggling teachers and principals with mentors to help them and monitor their progress. I would raise teacher salaries and give them bonuses for pursuing additional education outside of work. I would assemble a group of teachers to assist in overhauling the district."

"My school site is team-focused and encourages new ideas within the framework of the district. We have current technology, our principal trusts us and treats us like the qualified professionals we are."

"Stay positive. Talk about how you've made growth in ELA and math."

"I feel like I don't get paid enough for all I do. There's always a concern for whether or not you'll have a job the following year. Each year more and more pressure is put on us and resources are taken away. We are constantly expected to do more with less."

"I would reduce spending and micromanagement at the highest levels. I would give new teachers and principals mentors to guide them and keep track of their progress. I would gather teachers and ask them what they believe works best. If possible I would raise teacher salaries and give them bonuses for pursuing additional education."
