"It is the worst company to ever work for. My manager was passive-aggressive and petty, she would never tell you to your face anything, and take her anger out on you. Claire’s is a capitalist corporation that keeps all the money for itself while abusing its employees. I was paid 9$ Meanwhile my other key holding coworkers got a couple of cents more, when I confronted this I was told that “discussing pay can get you terminated “ clearly Thats manipulation and the company’s way to abuse you. On top of that, like I said I got paid 9$ to close registers, do paper work, clean, pierce ears, check people out, take peoples attitudes, send emails, sort out merchandise when receiving it as well as putting it all out. It was all a lot to do in a day, and I would have to stay till late, oh and also drop off money to a bank across the street. Obviously I was being abused and never got compensated. They would also threaten me about my “numbers”. If you don’t sell enough items, that’s bad, if you don’t make that much money that’s bad, If most of your piercings are stainless steel or have standard solution that’s bad, if people don’t want to use their emails with you that’s bad, they threaten you to make good numbers but even if you do, you will still get paid the same so why try?? Why hell a company that won’t help you?? Not to mention understaffed, why? Because the pay is so horrible. Towards the end of my time at Claire’s, I stopped caring, and when I put in my two weeks I wanted to use my paid vacation time, and they didn’t let me. They never did. That is MY money gone and lost now. So yeah, Claire’s steals your money. Another thing is if you go over 40 hours they punish you. Because Claire’s is such a cheap company that they can’t “afford” to pay overtime and if you do actually get overtime your checks come out shorter. Another co worker of mine got COVID and on the day she got paid it wasn’t enough for her expenses because Claire’s didn’t wanna compensate. I hate you"

"Claires was a decent job for a first one. My manager and I did not get along at all. If something was not done to her liking, instead of telling you she would gossip about you to others. It took me 75 days before I received my FIRST pay check, and that was only because I had the ability to call their hotline since I was a key holder. Sales Associates did not have this ability. I repeatedly asked to be transferred to another location which I met all qualifications for, and it was still in my district; I was refused it because my sales were "too good" and they didn't want to move my location. I honestly think they were just lazy. I requested a weekend off two months in advance. I was given them and then the week of, they were taken away because we had a CEO visit and my DM wanted me there. I had a coworker who was a sales associate for 2 years before, they moved her up to a key holder. Pretty ridiculous. Sales Associates make 8.25/hr. Key Holders only make 9/hr. Assistant Managers make 12/hr. I am unsure of the other positions."

"I was third key holder right on the dot. They were desperate for employers, so that's probably why. They trained me on the basic cash register stuff, but that's about it. I've only been working here a week and they expect me to work the store alone already, even though I have no experience with ear piercings, returns, all that stuff. I need more training and they are rushing me to do everything. Plus I have a ton more hours than I originally asked for."
