"Cisco is a company rampant with racial bias. Vertical and lateral promotions are not based on job competency or knowledge, but favoritism and those who do not challenge the status quo. Cisco offers no work-life balance. Human resources with Cisco is highly under-trained and not well-versed with California Labor Laws."

"Senior management should check the pulse of the average worker anonymously. They will be shocked at what they will find!!"

"The culture tends away from innovation and more toward tradition when it comes to work processes. Software development rating is 2.4 at best. Entrenched traditions are more appropriate for small-to-middle sized companies."

"Beware! Don't let the allure of money guide you. Ensure that you really shine in your area of expertise, and be ready for a fight. No one will give you a hand there until you've proven your mettle! And proving yourself is NOT an easy thing to do if you don't get the opportunity."

"Entrenched management and work groups fight off newcomers and provide no means for advancement to personnel that they don't know. No opportunities are given to unknowns."

"The executive staff (1996-2000) treated employees with respect, and feedback was fully open both ways. This enabled us all to perform at peak - the 10% more productivity rule."

"These will be your 'glory years' if you apply yourself and give, give, give! Do not expect big money the first years. The very fact that you're working at Cisco is awesome."
