Working at Cisco Systems in Lawrenceville, GA: 13 Employee Reviews

Program Manager

"Getting lost in the crowd."

What do you like about working at Cisco Systems?

"I like the ability to work from anywhere in the world with tools available."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Know the company buzzwords before you talk to anyone. Embed those buzzwords within your resume, interview responses, and phone conversations. That is more important than what you know. If you want to work here, you need full flexibility to move to whatever location in the world the company wants you to go. Otherwise, this culture is not a good match for a long-term career."

What don't you like about working at Cisco Systems?

"The company's size prevents agile attack of opportunities in every division. I dislike the level of travel required."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Give individual divisions more autonomy, and replace about 25% - 40% of the self-service links for benefits and IT support with actual people who can be called."

"Cisco is a good place to work if you have no aspirations to advance within the organization. Opportunities for promotions are extremely limited unless one is connected to the politically correct managers."

"Cisco Systems is a great company. But like every company there are going to be ups and down, good days and bad days. The IT field has grown tremendously over the last 25 years. And it will continue to grow, much more than we'll be able to keep up with the change. Even though there have been a few cutbacks. Cisco gets my A1 rating on quality."

"i've worked for Scientific Atlanta\Cisco since 2001. Overall the company is a great place to work although at times challenging of late with the macroeconomics in the industry as well as the cycle time to get things done (hiring, purchasing, constant org changes). I was able to establish a Services team in Latin America and had a team as large as 100 direct employees supporting F-500 companies globally."
