"The organization genuinely cares and takes the mission of delivering quality study abroad and exchange programs to heart. At the core of this mission is the health safety and security of its almost 50,000 participants in more than 40 countries as paramount. This was evidenced during a very tough month in February 2020 when the world tilted on its axis. The entire organization worked around the clock to get everyone home safely."

"Despite the warm and fuzzy mission, the situation under the new CEO has gone from bad to horrible. Turnover continues to be a major issue as good people leave for better opportunities. Rumors are flying around that because there aren't enough good employees in Portland the CEO is planning to move the office to Boston. Of course, this is total baloney. The reason that CIEE can't find great people in Portland is because of the company's horrible reputation here in town. Before you join, make sure you talk to people in the organization who can tell you what the place is really like."

"I've worked for CIEE for over 1 year, and have learned a lot about Microsoft's .NET and SQL Server Technologies. The people I work with are great and usually have a good attitude. The work itself is tedious and uses a lot of archaic technology, which should be upgraded but hasn't. There should be more structure on my team, but that is something that we haven't come around to yet. I often feel overworked as several people have left our teams and no one has been hired to fill those positions yet."

"The gym, that's the only thing I liked there, sadly."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Great company, very bad (newer) management, especially the CEO, he has been firing everybody, especially from departments that are not making enough profit. Please note that this is supposed to be a NON-Profit organization."

What don't you like about working at Council on International Educational Exchange?

"Racism, they treat you like an outsider, don't feel safe talking to people about personal stuff at all. And never tell anybody anything negative about your work, even if it seems to you like an innocent complaint or a comment."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Quit ! Immediately! Nobody likes them anyway and everyone talks behind their backs."
