Chemtura Corporation develops and markets specialty chemical products for a variety of functions. The company’s line includes chemicals used in swimming pools, fungicides and insecticides for agriculture, catalysts for the pharmaceutical industry and others. Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Chemtura began in 2005 with the merger of Great Lakes Chemical Corp. and Crompton Corp. Currently it operates facilities in 14 countries and has about 4,400 employees, and its products are sold in more than 100 countries with sales reaching $3 billion in 2010.

Chemtura has a strong sense of stewardship and environmental responsibility, and many of its products reflect this ethic. An example is Dimilin, a larvicide to control mosquitoes responsible for spreading dengue fever and malaria in developing nations. Another example is Chemtura’s GeoBrom line of products for reducing the mercury emissions from coal-fired power facilities.
