"Lots of good people to work with. Very diverse work force."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Do not trust anyone. There is always someone looking for somewhere to point a finger."

What don't you like about working at Johnson Matthey?

"Very constrictive. Your destiny is pre-determined. A small group of people make all of the decisions so the culture never changes."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Learn from your employees and be more open to change. Ruling with an iron fist does not move the company forward."

Chemical Engineer at Veeco Instruments
in Somerset, NJ

What do you like about working at Veeco Instruments?

"The variety of projects and responsibilities. There were always new systems to help design and learn about."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"The engineering team values individuals who can work without much oversight. Much of the rote documentation is contracted work, so the value is in making the decision and proving the plan is valid, not correcting the drawings."

What don't you like about working at Veeco Instruments?

"The poject deadlines came too quickly. Most design work was done on a just-in-time basis, so any delay or need for redesign made the whole project suffer."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Allow more time for development. Allow more time to make sure the project is something the customer really wants. Make sure the project fits the complete scope. Strike down projects that don't fit the complete scope early in the process."

Chemical Engineer at Restoration Services
in Oak Ridge, TN

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"RSI used to be a great place to work, but now is a quick hire-layoff company."

What do you like about working at Restoration Services?

"Originally was a small company working to make a difference in this area. Most of the management are approachable if you have questions."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It can be a great place to work, but be prepared for your supervisor to walk in anytime and tell you to clean out your desk in the next hour as you have been layed-off due to budget problems (not work-quality related)."

What don't you like about working at Restoration Services?

"When they won a very large contract in Oak Ridge, RSI changed from a friendly get-it-done company to a 'hire-fire' organization. The friendliness that was present in the beginning is gone and RSI is now in the hiring for a short-term contract, fire the just hired employees when it's over mode. They do not offer any career advancement training or options. RSI offers all the safety equipment you need, but other resources are hard to get."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I hope RSI regains their soul that they lost when they sold it to get this huge contract."
