"Cerner has a lot of great people working there. Lots of diverse personalities and met a few friends that I will have for the rest of my life. Everyone is very down to earth and doesn't mind rolling up their sleeves to get the job done. There were numerous opportunities for advancement, not just in my field but also opportunities to branch out into other fields as well. Another great part is the work you do at Cerner really makes a difference in the lives of patients in hospitals around the world."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"The interview process was pretty relaxed when I went through. They really want to make sure that you're going to fit into the corporate culture more than they are concerned that you are the best at what you do. Once you start working there you will undergo an extensive training program that will help acclimate you to the Cerner way of doing things."
What don't you like about working at Cerner?

What suggestions do you have for management?
"Keep an open mind. You hire a lot of very smart people, and then take all their decision making away from them. Don't try to micro-manage a 7000 person company from the top. Instead allow direct managers and team leads the authority to make decisions that best fit their team."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

What don't you like about working at Cerner?

Many of the employees who had worked there for a long time expressed disdain for upper management and the direction the company was headed, as well as a general lack of confidence in the competence of fellow employees or the speed of change in the organization."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"They do an excellent job of thinking big and heading up initiatives to take health care in new directions. However, they need to devote more resources to turning projects around faster, because due to the centralized architecture of the company's offerings, things do not happen very quickly and changes are not easy to make because they must be cleared organization-wide."
