Working at CBS Broadcasting in New York City, NY: 13 Employee Reviews

CBS Broadcasting Employee

"CBS News is an exceptional organization to work for. They are now spending a lot more effort to making sure reporting (both in story selection and the people telling it) are more equitable, fair and unbiased. Their worst aspect is that they do not pay incoming employees well at all, which sets you back for years to come."

"Currently employed for 20 years. If benefits are more important than salary then this company is good for you. They are a good company for longevity, however I have yet found good professional management. The company does not invest in their management. So be prepared to encounter some incompetence along the way."

"I have worked for CBS for close to 10 years. While compensation is quite competitive the pace and workload are typically quite high and there is no bonus if that is important to you. It is a very large organization so if you prefer a more intimate environment with a culture geared towards family responsibilities and tight inter-departmental collaboration, this might not be the ideal fit for you. If you are looking to get involved in numerous tasks and projects simultaneously and greatly enhance your experience, I would recommend CBS."

"CBS Radio is a company with great assets but not the proper leadership to move into the digital age. There is a major lack of support and the system has been devised that limits the abilities of its sellers locally and nationally. Streaming media players like: Spotify, Pandora, Apple, Beats, etc. are overing far superior products making CBS Radio group obsolete in the digital space. All energy and attention is focused on the immediate future and how to earn dollars for now."

Account Coordinator

"I have worked here for over two years. It is a good stepping stone as you are exposed to different tools and projects. The Account Coordinator role carries a lot of responsibility. Unfortunately the work flow and processes used are very poor and there are a lot of system glitches that impede optimal execution. Opportunity to move up is also slim, depending on the business unit you are originally located in. There are pros and cons to this position, but does serve as good learning experience."

"I have worked for CBS for 8 years now. I have learned a lot here and look forward to coming to work every day. The environment is a corporate setting yet casual. The Broadcast Center is a great place to be as it is the center for all activities in CBS. It's a great place to meet people and network."

"I worked here for two years and I consider it one of the greatest mistakes of my career. CBS Local is a deadzone. They either phone-in their products or they are complete ripoffs. The management is completely dishonest and incompetent. Company morale is the lowest I have ever seen in any place I have ever worked. The benefits are standard, the pay is awful and out of touch with the work required and the city that they are located. If CBS Local calls you just hang up."

"Very corporate, political and stale. The company is not about solutions for it's clients but about kissing ass and filling out reports."
