Carter Lumber is one of the oldest and largest lumberyards in the United States. They were founded in 1932 by W.E. Carter in Kent, Ohio. The headquarters of the business are still in Ohio, but have since moved to the city of Akron. Carter Lumber conducts business on both small and large scales. They provide supplies and building materials to individuals working on small projects. They also provide building materials to businesses working on major projects and stores who then sell the materials to their own customers.
Carter Lumber operates more than 150 retail stores in the United States. Their stores are mostly located in Ohio and Ohio's neighboring states, but they also have some spread out along the east coast. Their largest stores include Carter-Jones Lumber, Kempsville Building Materials, Holmes Lumber, Kight Home Center, and Griggs Lumber. Carter Lumber has remained a family run company since it was first established in 1932.
