"Horrible management and working environment. The company does not reward for efforts or give back to employees. The owner screams and yells daily creating a horrible working environment"

"Worked at the Vinton plant for almost 3 years. The current Plant Superintendent is working hard to change a toxic work environment. This could be the employer of choice in the area once some of the toxic elements are either re-trained, moved, or let go."

"The interview process was excellent, treated like gold, however as soon as I was hired the treatment changed. Cardinal glass is a non union company that leaves the employees wide open to any abuse from management without any protection at all. it is a low paying factory that is full of unhappy employees."

"I asked off for one day because my husband was having surgery. I got told because there were two people off on a different shift I could not have off. I love the people I work with. Our computers are always broke and forktruck half ass work. Some of the employees have no rights at all. They will try to screw you over any chance they get. Watch your pay checks. Hours will just disappear off of it."

What do you like about working at Cardinal Glass?

"There are no rules, no regulations, no financial controls, no over-site beyond the plant level."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"This is not the company with which you should start a career."

What don't you like about working at Cardinal Glass?

"The business is not professionally managed. Its more like mom-and-pop routine where the business model encourages the plant manager to be a dictator. Career development is non-existent. Your career path is defined by who knows you and who you are associated with. This company makes gut decisions throughout all levels of the company. Often these gut decisions affect the talent pool by driving effective managers out of the company. Often at the levels of plant manger and above the opinions of talented managers are discarded as distractions. When I worked for Cardinal Glass there were only about 50 investors of this billion dollar company. They were an exclusive bunch that often would back-stab each other with little or no justification in order to climb the latter of importance."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The company has to become more professionally managed. They should create a business model that incorporates outside opinions. One improvement would be for the CEO to retire. He's been there for about 40 years and is hardly engaged in the business. When I was there there was a lot of political jockeying about who would be the next CEO."

Production Floor Supervisor

"You get out of it what you put into it."

"People and the challenges"

What don't you like about working at Cardinal Glass?

"The usual consitration on getting the job done, rather than taking some time to ensure the job and machines were maintained properly to maximize uptme, thus throughput."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"PM, PM, PM and just when you thought you were done with PM's, PM again. More time spent ensuring the equipment is maintained, less time spent getting the lines back up and running."
