"I have worked for Calportland for almost three years. I have payroll assignments for the west coast including 4 states. I also ran payroll for the companies only construction division. I have also worked prevailing wages for Washington and California. We have worked from home and hybrid during the pandemic. The company is moving states with no option for remote work."

"CalPortland is an interesting company. There are two things you will notice at CalPortland. First, it will spend a dollar to save a penny. Second, each department is a completely different environment within the overarching CalPortland culture."

"Lack of clarity regarding corporate goals for capital improvements and budgeting."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Create an atmosphere for all employees that provides all necessary training and tools to insure optimum performance and personal success accomplishing the duties at hand. Create business partners to improve financial strength."

"I believe that as long as they are knowledgeable within their skill set, they will succeed at CalPortland."

"I believe that a clearer perspective of current assignments (as well as future expectations) should be placed by Management."

"Please note-I was laid-off because CalPortland Cement Colton downsized. To answer your question, it was the challenge of working on varied projects."

"Wait until the national financial crisis is over and cement manufacturing picks up. To the best of my knowledge CalPortland will not be ready to accept new employees for at least a year."
