"I have worked with CHP for 8 years. The job itself is interesting and challenging, but expanding your talents or moving beyond your current positioned is hampered by budgets and how you're performing, if you do your job well, they like to keep you there."

What do you like about working at California Highway Patrol?

"I enjoyed working with many of the people and on the computer systems as the CAD coordinator. Being able to assist the public and other agencies was good experience for working in any type of clerical or administrative position."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Save your time and energy. The state may seem like a good place to work and for some it may be, but with the amount of backstabbing and subversive tendancies of many of the employees it seems that the only way that they are happy is when they are either making someone else miserable or dealing with some sort of horrific tragedy that has occured."

What don't you like about working at California Highway Patrol?

"The management left something to be desired. They did not and do not listen to their employees about problems that could be going on either on or off the job. There is too much dissension among the workers and many of the workers do not trust their supervisors to even be able to do the job that they do."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"My suggestion for management is to get to know your people. If a supervisor can do the same job as the employee then the employee will have more respect for the supervisor and be able to follow their leadership and example more easily."
