Cabot’s production products include cheddar cheese, butter, yogurt, and sour cream. The cooperative agreement between the local dairies allows the owners to be more competitive and have additional marketplace leverage than conducting business individually. The company is headquartered in Montpelier, Vermont.

Cabot was founded in 1919 when several dairy farmers in the Cabot, Vermont region created a cooperative to market and sell their dairy products throughout New England using the brand name Rosedale. The company continued to expand with additional farms joining the cooperative from around the state and across the region. By 1980, the company included close to 2,000 farms, and adopted the Cabot namesake to expand the brand recognition.
